In the second part of the interview miou talks about SK Gaming, the WC3L and Team Germany. Back to the first part of the interview.
SK Gaming International from the view of a German
readmore.de: How is the mood in the international SK.wc3 squad? How do you get along with the rest of the team?
SK|Miou: Online i do not have to do much with the other players. We are in the same channels and chat sometimes, but when it comes to custom games i rarely play against my teammates. Online i take care of myself and besides clanwars or training there is not much chatting either. When it comes to events which are held offline it’s different. There we get along very well. My last offline-event were the CB-Finals where the mood was very good.
readmore.de: Did you have more fun in the german SK squad?
SK|Miou: No, i like being on events with the international squad more. In the German squad the 2on2-team with j4yiwd was cool and both of us are missing it a little bit. On the other hand we had more arguments in the German squad, than we have now, in the international squad.
readmore.de: What do you think about SK’s nearly legendary weakness in the 2on2 matches while the lineup is filled with strong solo-players?
SK|Miou: In my opinion those losses are completely unecessary and we have lost too many points and clanwars due to the 2on2s. The problem is, that the players concentrate on solomatches and no one really wants to play 2on2. The reason for this is, that there are nearly no tournaments and no prices for 2on2s, which makes this, besides WC3L and the few 2on2 inCups, not worthwile for the players. Until now two players decided to play 2on2 but quickly stopped to train again and without training you of course cannot win on this level. I hope we can solve this problem and at the moment ElakeDuck and TaKe do a pretty good job as a team.
readmore.de: What is your opinion about the project „SK06“? Is it an attempt to help players develop to future SK.int-players or will they maybe form a new German WC3-squad for SK?
SK|Miou: Since the beginning of that project I did not really like this idea. SK.int does not have to do anything with these players and I think that’s good. We have to concentrate on other things like WC3L. On the other hand I think it’s great that TaKe puts so much effort in this project, because it is a lot of work. For the players it is good of course. They have a better support and a better chance to train, but we will have to wait to see if they are good enough. Besides Thurisaz I get along pretty good with the players of the squad and I would like to hear more of them. But as I mentioned already, SK.int and SK06 are two totally different teams and that should never be forgotten.
Mercs and lag – the WC3L
readmore.de: You rarely play WC3L-matches. Is it because you don’t want to play, or don’t they think you’re good enough?
SK|Miou: Since some months I just play WC3L if there is no other player available. I asked for that, because I don’t like playing WC3L due to the bad ping, long discussions with the other players and lameness. But the main reason for this is the problem with hosts. Often it takes hours to find a host which both players agree on, which is unjustifiable with school and my private life. I didn’t see why I should sacrifice so many hours for a single clanwar, while the games wore on until midnight. In the meantime things changed a little bit, but I still do not want to play, since I think that the squad has a very good lineup anyways.
readmore.de: What do you think about the discussion about Koreans/mercs in WC3L?
SK|Miou: I always liked watching good games of Asian human players in WC3L. On the other hand I was very disappointed when some teams replaced their usual players with the so called „mercs“. Some teams completely rebuild their squad with Koreans, who never had anything to do with the clan, which is why I disliked it. Now I actually do not care anymore, because some of these players are in their teams for a very long time and I myself am not concerned since I hardly play WC3L.
A new Team Germany?
readmore.de: What about Team-Ger since ENC-Finals? Is it really a „team“ when there are no tournaments?
SK|Miou: There was an attempt to organize a friendlywar against another team, but the players did not really want to do that. Most of our players are opponents in the ESL Pro Series and other leagues, so they like training alone. The internal channel on the other hand is used pretty often, and when the players meet on events, they frequently talk about Team-Ger.
readmore.de: What about you and DaviN?
SK|Miou: We decided some time ago, that we should not argue anymore and stop flaming each other needlessly. Since that day our relationship is okay, and we respect each other. I would even say, that we got along pretty good at ENC Finals due to Team-Ger. Sometimes we also chat in the internal channels, but otherwise we do not have to do much with each other.
readmore.de: How do you rate the performance fo Team-Ger at ENC-Finals?
SK|Miou: Concerning our preparation we did not deserve a better result. But it could have gone better, since we lost two close matches. We could have done better definately, perhaps we will do the next time. We will see if new players will come into the team and if there will be other changes due to the new teammanager. Im pretty optimistic, as the ENC-Finals helped us to get something like teamspirit, which should help us in future tournaments.
readmore.de: What do you think about vic as the new manager? Did he already do something special with the team?
SK|Miou: He did not have to do any work yet, but in the past he showed good work and he is a person, who can deal with responsibility. I think he will do a good job, but he has to show his abilities again. I am anxious to see his lineups for the ENC-Games and his influence on changes in the team. It looks like all players get along with him and with a good teamspirit we could be able to improve our latest results. But at the moment Team-Ger is waiting for the next season. I have to thank the ESL for their good organisation and I was happy to see, that the ENC gained some attention. The event in Leipzig was unique for the ENC and I had a lot of fun and it was good for our team, too.
Miscellaneous Questions
readmore.de: Could imagine living as a pro-Gamer?
SK|Miou: That’s nothing I can think of at the moment. I have to think about more important things, but I could very well imagine a job in eSports later. I will only play WC3 as long as I have fun playing it and I will not obsessively try to get better in any other game. A time of pro-Gaming after my graduation on the other hand is something I could imagine, but you can’t do that the whole time. One or two years of gaming, winning money and travelling around the world would be cool i think, but it is not my aim in life.
readmore.de: What do you think about WEG?
SK|Miou: As you can see in the last answer I would not be aversed to concentrate more on playing Wacraft III after my graduation. This year I had to cancel my participation at the qualifier because of school. You can only participate at such an event if you have nothing else to do. But especially WEG is an event which I don’t like that much. For the matches at WEG you need to train so hard, that it would be too much for me. What I like about WEG is of course that you can live in another county for some time and just play. I’d like to participate, but I would not hope for a good result.
readmore.de: How do your group your units in Warcraft III?
SK|Miou: 1-Heroes/Melee, 2-Range/Caster/Mortar, 3-Barracks/Workshop, 4-Sanctuary/Aviary, 5-Altar, 6-Main, 7-First Expansion, 8-Second Expansion or Blacksmith, 9-Blacksmith if second Expansion, 0-Zeppelin, Sappers, etc…
If I use Massair I additionally use the hotkeys 3 and 4 for units. In fights I often micro my units without hotkeys, mortars and casters for example.
readmore.de: At the end you might greet some people or deliver acknowledgements.
SK|Miou: Greetings go out to all of my fans, friends and my family, the whole WC3-community, j4yiwd and the team SK Gaming. I thank all our sponsors for their support and their confidence.
