ESWC 2007: Interview mit PGS|TaZ (english)

readmore.de: In the final match there was the situation, that you lost the second map in the second overtime on a map you actually already won. How could you motivate your team again?

Wiktor ‚TaZ‘ Wojtas: Well, it is pretty much the same as in the fnatic game. We lost on de_nuke and we knew our inferno-game is really good. So we were able to focus on the match, forget everything around us and win the final game. It was just the same against NoA. We just gave away the map, but we could win the first six rounds on de_inferno and then was the moment I thought, it’s our game. We will win it! But right then we started to give up close rounds and made the same mistakes again. You know, it’s all about focus. I tried to motivate my teammates and told them „Come on guys, it’s just like the WSVG or the game versus fnatic. It’s our game and our tournament. Come on, let’s win this right now.“

readmore.de: How is it to play in front of such a huge audience?

TaZ: First of all I thought the audience would be on our site. So when you’re sure, that almost everybody is shouting for NoA, it’s starting to get hard. Then our polish fans started to shout so loud, that we could hear them on the stage. For me it wasn’t really a problem, because I thought, if everybody is for NoA, every headshot is a guy in the audience. So I need to get as many kills as I can.

readmore.de: Right from the start I had the feeling, that you guys were dominating the tournament. Were there any teams you were scared of?

TaZ: From the first groupstage on we had tough opponents like x6tence or Virtus.pro. Then we saw the second groupstage and we were like: „Oh my god“. I knew, that we would get the hardest group, but if you want to win, you need to win against all teams. We started then to win against MYM and the finish guys and it felt great.

readmore.de: When the drawings were going on, was there a team, you didn’t want to face right from the start, because you don’t like to play them?

TaZ: I personally dislike the playing style of fnatic on de_nuke on the CT-side, because they play really aggressive. For us it’s hard to make some slow tactics in that situation and control the whole map. If there is any team we fear, it’s fnatic on de_nuke.

readmore.de: Everybody knows, that your team is just waiting for offline-events like the ESWC, because the internet in Poland sucks. Nevertheless the scene is developing more and more to online-tournaments. Is that a problem for you guys?

TaZ: It’s a really big problem for us, because we just can’t be 100 percent focused. It’s always better, when you have all your guys near you. Then you are able to just shout and do something, when there is something wrong with our game. But in online games you can just say: „Come on guys let’s do it“ and nothing more. You can’t just go to the guy and just hit him and say really personal „Come on do it“. (TaZ slaps the editor slightly on the back)

readmore.de: The factor making PGS special this year is not the performance at one event, but the overall constancy. There were four tournaments, where you were participating in the grand final. Why can you dominate every tournament out there?

TaZ: I really don’t know. We are practicing pretty much before the tournaments. The last two weeks we were staying at the Inferno Online in Stockholm. That time we were practicing on TFT-monitors, that wasn’t really helpful. It’s just dedication, experience and i think we have the craziest aim out there.

readmore.de: Many new formed teams have problems with their teamplay and the positioning. Is your big advantage, that you are playing with this lineup for years and just keeping the best aim is making the difference?

TaZ: For us mostly it’s the aim. We just believe in our skill. In the game we just say: „Okay guys, let’s make some headshots. I just call the tactics and good luck.“ I believe there is a reason, why we play so good. It could be the chemistry in our team. We know each other for so long. Maybe that’s it.

readmore.de: There are so many teams having problems with the pressure before such tournaments and many of them fail. How is the pressure for you? Is there any?

TaZ: Of course we always want to win. It’s not that we always think about winning the whole tournament, we just want to win the next game. Every single game, every single round. We just give 100 percent for each round. We love to play the important games. It’s becomes better and better, when you go further.

readmore.de: Many people believe this is the last big tournament with CS 1.6. Do you think next year there will be Source? Would you play it then?

TaZ: I think, when 1.6 will really die, we will probably switch to CS:S, but I hope this won’t happen so fast.

readmore.de: Are there any changes upcoming in the next time in your team?

TaZ: No way, that we will change. We want to stay with this lineup. Wouldn’t you want to live the dream, when you are winning everything? I don’t think you would stop at that point. We are such a great team and want to stay together. We want to win more and more and more. We want to prove to everybody, that we are the number one in the world.

    english

    Sehr viel sinnvoller, danke Sheitan

i guess he is misunderstood, with this quote everybody is posting

he propably meant, that he will shut up every supporter of NoA by killing the members of the team ingame.

he wanted them to see, who is the better team and wanted to annihilate NoA.
