readmore: What do you think has changed inside the team since last year that makes you able to win versus Astralis? Whats the mentality like inside the team?
adreN: „I’m not sure. Stewie, Jake, helps a lot mid rounding. He is a very vocal player, so he is always giving ideas. He helps nitr0 call a lot and I think that is helping us ingame. For example, in this grand final he stepped up big and mid gamed a lot as well.“
readmore: You lost Nuke versus G2 and barely won on it versus mousesports. What do you think you have to improve on this map?
adreN: „Both maps we were actually just giving up a lot of picks. I think we just need to revisit our T-side. Our CT-side is very good even though G2 had a very good t-side themselves. So I think CT-side is good, we just need to work on the T-side, maybe revisit some strategies, fix the holes.“
readmore: You joined the team at the start of the year, what have you been focusing on the most, what did you try to improve?
adreN: „It is a hard question because it has been different from month to month. When I first joined I was just creating a stratbook for the team, simply figuring out “Hey guys what do you have, what can we run?”, so it gives nitr0 an easier time calling, he doesn’t always carry a stratbook in this brain and be creative on the spot. So, I was trying to help them with that a lot in the start, just so it is a bit easier and we know what we have to run. After that its just been improving the map, making it deeper. It is hard to think of any more specifics right now.“
readmore: Vertigo would have been the fifth map in the grand finale, what do you think about the map in its current state?
adreN: „We think the map is okay. I think the B side needs to be changed a little bit. Everyone has been talking about the A side, but I think since they changed the wooden wall around the crane its actually a little bit better. You can mix up some aggression, a little bit of aggression and also retake it. I just don’t like the whole B side; it needs to be changed. I think the mid part is fine which actually no one is really using as a terrorist right now, but as the meta develops you will be able to see it. The map is just too young right now.“
readmore: With cologne coming up in a few days, who do you think can stop you from winning the Intel Grand Slam?
adreN: „There are so many good teams right now. Like, who would have thought G2 will be in the final right now? I think any team can step up, for example mousesports played a really good semi-final against us, they have a lot of talent. Astralis obviously is still the team that would be the hardest for us to beat. I think a lot of people think they are randomly just bad, but it is still the same group of players, they know how to win. So I think they will have to strive to compete and I think Astralis is the number one team to worry about.“
readmore: Before you started coaching Liquid again you played with Mythic a team of streamers for a while. Do you miss the feeling of playing yourself?
adreN: „A little bit of course, playing is always what you want to do. I’ve gotten a little bit over it since I’ve been going down that road for so long. I got all I could out of it in my opinion. When I was playing on Mythic I was just playing for fun, I wasn’t playing to compete at all, we never practiced. It was just for fun and entertainment. I miss it a little bit, but onto new thing, right?“
