Let’s talk about the map veto, since you destroyed Vitality on Mirage. Did you expect the match to be this one sided?
qikert: “Since we already knew that Vitality is our opponent, we just knew what maps we are gonna play. We knew all three maps Dust2, Inferno and Mirage and we prepared for all three maps before game day. We just played a lot of praccs, did a lot of preparation against them. We did anti-strat, anti-strat pistols and it just went good. But to be honest on the first map we didn’t really expect that we are just gonna get this win really easy, because Mirage is not one of our best maps. On Inferno, when we were leading 1-0, despite it being our best map they surprised us and played really good and literally outclassed us on the map and it all ended on Dust2 where we just felt the game.”
You weren’t the favourites going into Dust2 since Vitality beat much better opponents in the past. Vitality struggled with your explosive style.
qikert: “I think we just hit a really good start and started taking rounds one by one and it went really well and we got a streak of rounds which brought us to the victory. It felt really good on T side and it was amazing because we were just doing everything perfectly.”
This feels like another Gambit-esque storyline since everybody expected ENCE and Vitality to make it through. Did you feel like this major is more open for all and that everyone can win it?
qikert: “To be honest we are not thinking about this a lot. We are just thinking about today and the next victory. What happens today, happens today and we are thinking only about today. We are thinking about how we gonna play the game, play CS and we want to show the best CS possible. We are not afraid; we are just doing our thing and want to show what we are made of.”
Your next opponent is going to be Renegades, which you already faced in the group stage and beat them on Vertigo. How do you feel about the rematch?
qikert: “To be honest in CSGO, in the pickems I chose ENCE to win against Renegades and that we gonna play and win against ENCE and go through to the final. But everything changed with the Renegades win against ENCE and now we are playing against Renegades. I think they are a really good team and they are still surprising everyone, because they went through Legends Stage and it is amazing how consistent they are. But I think in those big games it is a matter of confidence. If you are confident, you are gonna win.”
You brought AdreN to the team earlier this year, what strengths did he bring to the team?
qikert: “He is a Major winner so for the major you get a little boost and feel like a major winner yourself. So you gain mentality, strength, confidence and feel like you played the major ten times already and won all of them. He gives a really good mental boost.”
