There are no fancy, shining, flashy lights
How is the event going for you so far?
Right now, we are very thankful that so many gamers come to our booth, to try out our new products. We are glad to have this event, where we can talk to gamers and can figure out, what they want, as well as their experiences with our gear.
Why did you, as BenQ, decide to take over a trademark specialised in eSports?
From the beginning we knew we wanted to be different from the normal BenQ-brand. It starts with the design. There are no fancy, shining, flashy lights. The design should not distract the player. Everything by ZOWIE is made specifically for eSports, so it’s appropriate to create a new brand.
What are the profits of this step?
Other competitors have different categories – eg: casual, gaming and low-budget-products. We wanted to make sure that the gear we deliver is fit for high quality eSports. Even if some people say that the segment we’re focusing on is very small, only then can you make really good products for pro-gamers or competitive players. After the pro-gamers lead the way, the other players will follow.
Are you working on anything new?
Here at this booth we have a new monitor, the ZOWIE XL2735. It measures 27 inches and it’s going to be launched in August. At DreamHack the players can test the product. We have a new technology inside, which is called „dynamic accuracy“. We managed to reduce the ghosting more than ever before. It’s like a CRT-monitor.

You have announced a partnership with Natus Vincere and Team EnVyUs. How are you choosing the teams, you want to engage in a partnership with?
As an esports producer we always try to work with pro-gamers. Normally, when we are picking the teams we sponsor, we choose the players who already use our gear. So Na’Vi and EnVyUs have been using our products for a long time and they are also some of the best teams. Those are the main points.
Are you sponsoring only Counter-Strike teams?
Mostly Counter-Strike, because with ZOWIE we are focusing on first-person shooters.
